Essential Position Functions & Duties

95% Responsibilities

Teaching, scholarship, service and student advising. We offer a unique environment that affords faculty members the opportunity to teach in their area of expertise and practice and conduct research on-site in our state-of-the-art rehabilitation clinic which encompasses 20,000 square feet on the ground floor of the School of Health Professions and Sciences.  Additional inpatient practice and research opportunities exist in the adjacent level-1 trauma center at Ochsner-LSU Health Shreveport.  Candidates should be comfortable working with other faculty members in the program, school, and institution as well as with students in the entry-level DPT program.  Additional opportunities exist to teach and/or serve as a mentor in the PhD Program for Rehabilitation Sciences or in one of our three accredited residency programs, depending on area of clinical expertise.  We are part of an academic medical center with collaborative opportunities across schools and multiple clinical and scientific disciplines.

Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Applicant must meet the following qualifications:

• Eligibility for licensure as a physical therapist in Louisiana
• Possess an academic doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DSc, DHS, or equivalent), although candidates in the final year of their dissertation may also be considered
• Demonstration of excellence in previous teaching experience
• Ability to work independently toward goals as well as collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and other stakeholders from a diverse background.

• PhD or EdD with track record of grantsmanship, research, and peer-reviewed publications
• Demonstration of experience in hybrid education (didactic and clinical)
• Board certification in any area of physical therapy is desirable.

Salary Range: $92,000 - $117,000  

Primary Location: Shreveport, LA (on-site position)
