Essential Position Functions & Duties

Responsibilities (95%)

Teaching, student advising, service, and scholarship, with teaching as the primary focus of faculty effort. We provide an environment that supports faculty in delivering high-quality instruction within their areas of clinical expertise while integrating practice-based learning experiences for entry-level OTD students. Faculty have access to on-site scholarship and research opportunities in our 20,000-square-foot rehabilitation clinic within the School of Health Professions and Sciences, with additional opportunities available through the adjacent Level-1 trauma center at Ochsner-LSU Health Shreveport.

Candidates should be able to collaborate effectively with faculty across the program, school, and institution while continuing to a student-centered learning community. Opportunities to teach and/or mentor in the PhD Program for Rehabilitation Sciences may be available based on qualifications and expertise. The position is situated within an academic medical center that fosters interdisciplinary engagement across multiple clinical and scientific domains.

Non-Essential Position Functions & Duties

Marginal Functions (5%)

Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Regular attendance is required to perform the functions of this position.  The work hours are generally Monday through Friday from 8:00AM to 5:00PM

The applicant must meet the following:

  • Doctor of Occupational Therapy or related Doctorate Degree from regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution.
  • Licensed to practice Occupational Therapy in the state of Louisiana.
  • Membership in the American Occupational Therapy Association.
  • Membership in the Louisiana State Occupational Therapy Association.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience as a licensed occupational therapy practitioner.
  • Documented expertise in the area of teaching responsibility and knowledge of content delivery methods (hybrid and in-person teaching).
  • Teaching experience at the postgraduate level preferred.
  • Documented experience conducting/managing OT related research preferred.

Salary Range: $70,000 - $87,000  

Primary Location: Shreveport, LA (On-Site)
