Responsibilities (95%)
The Department of Physical Therapy at LSU Health Shreveport welcomes applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin teaching classes for the second cohort/second year of our Lafayette Hybrid DPT Program. The faculty member would have primary responsibilities related to establishing a line of research, with the goal of success in peer-reviewed publications and grant funding, in addition to teaching in the hybrid DPT program, which includes advising students and working collaboratively with other members of the programmatic and departmental faculty. Courses with teaching needs currently include: PHTH 7819 Cardiovascular & Pulmonary I, PHTH 7820 Cardiovascular & Pulmonary II, PHTH 7822 Progression of Care, PHTH 7824 Managing Complex Patients, PHTH 7825 Community Needs Assessment and Program Planning, PHTH 7826 Neuromuscular I, and PHTH 7827 Neuromuscular II. All new faculty are paired with a senior faculty member for all assigned teaching assignments for their first two semesters and will only be expected to take on the role as course coordinator in their third semester. The program has a large group of associated faculty members that assist with teaching responsibilities, and all courses have at least two core faculty members assigned, for effective team teaching.
The Lafayette Hybrid Program is located in Lafayette, LA, which is three hours south of the main campus located in Shreveport, Louisiana. The program is fully accredited as an expansion of the parent program located in Shreveport. This faculty member would be the third core faculty member for this campus/program, with an additional five core faculty who teach in both the Shreveport Residential and Lafayette Hybrid Programs.
The Lafayette Hybrid Program currently has a maximum cohort size of 24 students with state-of-the-art AV and clinical/classroom equipment for laboratory and active-learning-based teaching activities. There is a research laboratory that is currently unfinished, which the faculty member could furnish through grant funds and use for their scholarly pursuits, along with other faculty members.

Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Regular attendance is required to perform the functions of this position. The faculty member would be expected to relocate to Lafayette, LA (be a Louisiana resident), or a nearby area within the state, to be on campus during students’ on-campus and remote learning weeks.
Incumbent will maintain a customer-oriented awareness in acknowledging and responding to needs as they occur that customer satisfaction is met at all times.
The applicant must meet the following:
- Eligibility for licensure as a Physical Therapist in Louisiana.
- Possess an academic Doctoral Degree (PhD, EdD, DSc, DHS, or equivalent), although candidates in the final year of their dissertation may also be considered.
- Demonstration of excellence in previous teaching and/or research experience.
- Ability to work independently toward goals as well as collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and other stakeholders from a diverse background.
- PhD or EdD with track record of grantsmanship, research, and peer-reviewed publications.
- Demonstration of experience in hybrid education (didactic and clinical).
- Board certification in any area of physical therapy is desirable (e.g., neurologic, cardiopulmonary, pelvic health, or pediatrics).

Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000
