The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at LSU Health Shreveport seeks a highly motivated Associate Professor to develop and maintain an independent, externally funded research program in biochemistry, molecular biology, cancer biology, or related biomedical sciences. The successful candidate will contribute to graduate and medical education, mentor trainees, and participate in departmental, institutional, and professional service activities.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Maintain an active, nationally recognized, externally funded research program.
• Publish high-impact scholarly work in peer-reviewed journals.
• Teach and participate in medical, graduate, and/or postgraduate education programs.
• Mentor graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, residents, and other trainees.
• Collaborate with faculty across departments and research centers.
• Serve on departmental, institutional, and professional committees.
• Contribute to the growth of the research and educational missions of LSU Health Shreveport.

The applicant must meet the following:
• Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cancer Biology, or a related biomedical discipline.
• Eligible for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor.
• Demonstrated record of independent research productivity.
• Evidence of successful extramural funding or strong potential for sustained external funding.
• Record of publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
• Experience teaching and mentoring students and/or trainees.

• Active federal or equivalent peer-reviewed research funding.
• Expertise in cancer biology, translational research, or related areas aligned with institutional priorities.
• Demonstrated experience in interdisciplinary and collaborative research.
• Strong commitment to mentorship and academic service.

Salary Range: $130,000 - $170,000
Primary Location: Shreveport, LA (On-Site)
