The Libraries currently have the following agreements to waive publishing and open
access
article processing charges (APC) for LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans authors.

Publishing Fees Waived: Unlimited Article Submissions
Publishing fees are waived and there are no limits to the number of articles that
can be submitted
- Allows publishing of accepted case reports at no additional charge
- Institutional fellowship code needed for submission
- Comes as part of Library's subscription to BMJ Case Reports
- Open access article processing charge (APC) waived
- Unlimited articles
- Information about eligible journals and article submission process
- Corresponding author must be from LSUHSC-NO and provide lsuhsc.edu email account when
submitting article
- The Library will mediate waiver of the open access fee after article acceptance
- Library pays an annual fee in addition to ACS journals subscriptions costs
- Open access article processing charge (APC) waived
- Unlimited articles
- Corresponding author must be from LSUHSC-NO and provide lsuhsc.edu email account when
submitting article
- Information about the publishing agreement and article submissions
- Library has negotiated a two-year cost neutral agreement
Publishing Fees Waived: Limited Article Submissions
Open access publishing fees are waived, but there is an annual limit to the number
of articles eligible for fee waivers
- Open access article processing charge (APC) waived
- Limited to 29 articles per year for 2025-2027
- Elsevier's process for open access publishing under this agreement is available here
- Corresponding author must be from LSUHSC-NO and provide lsuhsc.edu email account when
submitting article
- Search/browse journals eligible for fee waiver
- Fully open access journals are not eligible
- Not all of the Library's subscribed journals are eligible (e.g. Cell Press, Clinics
of North America, The Lancet, etc.)
- Library approves waiver of open access fee after article is accepted for publication
- Library pays an annual fee in addition to journal subscriptions costs
- Please note: the following journals are leaving ScienceDirect or are moving to fully
open access starting January 1, 2026, and will no longer be eligible for the fee waiver;
even if you have submitted an article to be published in these journals prior to December
31, 2025, unless they are accepted for publication prior to that date, the fee waivers
will not apply
