Instructions to connect an Android device to ActiveSync.


To Connect an Android phone or tablet to LSUHSC Mobile Device Management, follow the instructions on this page.


To connect without using Mobile Device Management software, configure your device using the following steps. The most significant difference between these two methods of connection is that if a device is lost or stolen and has to be wiped to prevent a potential leakage of Patient Health Information, the MDM solution has the ability to wipe only the LSUHSC corporate data. With the following connection method, the entire phone would be wiped and the device would be returned back to Original Equipment Manufacturer specifications.

  1. Open the Android Mail application, and if a mailbox has already been configured, open the settings for the mail application and choose Add Account.

  5. Enter your email address and your LSUHSC account password. Optionally check "Send email from this account by default." Click Next.

  7. Click OK for the  Remote Security Administration pop up.

  9. Verify settings and click Done.

  11. Click Activate in the Activate Device Administrator prompt. This warning advises that the LSUHSC email system will have the ability to remotely wipe the device should it become necessary.

  15. If you do not already have a Personal Identification Number set on your device you will be required to enter a PIN 4 characters or more in length on your device in order to connect to the LSUHSC email system.
