LSU Health New Orleans School of Medicine students are hosting the annual Camp Tiger Benefit Auction to raise vital funds for Camp Tiger, a free, week-long summer camp for children between the ages of 6-15 who have physical and/or mental special needs.

This year’s Camp Tiger Benefit Auction will be held on Friday, March 13 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Generations Hall and will feature live music from Nola Groove, an open bar, auction and food from New Orleans favorites, including Messina’s Catering, Reginelli’s, Walk On’s, Raising Cane’s and Ye Olde College Inn. This year’s silent auction features exciting vacations including a Kentucky Bourbon Experience trip with admission to local distilleries in Lexington, a stay and vineyard tour in Napa Valley, a 7-night stay at the Mayan Palace in Mexico and destination vacations to Belize and Costa Rica. Other items include a bottle of coveted Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon, themed packages for golfers, skincare for self-care enthusiasts, date-night packages, artwork from local New Orleans artists and much more! If patrons cannot attend the auction in person, bidding is available online.

All proceeds from the event and auction will support Camp Tiger, which is organized and run entirely by LSU Health New Orleans first year medical students. For 40 years, Camp Tiger has served as a free, high-engagement summer camp option for families of children with disabilities from Greater New Orleans, Baton Rouge and surrounding areas. Campers get the opportunity to experience Audubon Zoo, Audubon Aquarium and Insectarium, City Park Amusements, Global Wildlife and more.

“Camp Tiger is a great community benefit for the 75 plus campers that get to attend each summer, and a wonderful learning experience for the medical students,” shared Dr. Kyle Fulton, faculty advisor and Camp Tiger Medical Director. “Camp Tiger campers and their families get to benefit from a free, week-long camp that includes some of the very best experiences New Orleans has to offer, and medical students walk away with great memories and real experience working one-on-one with differently-abled individuals – it’s a win-win for everyone.”
