School of Public Health Receives $2.3 Million Grant to Study Benefits of Combining Lung Cancer Screenings and Smoking Cessation in African Americans

LSU Health New Orleans’ School of Public Health has been awarded a five-year, $2.3 million grant from the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The grant will be used to conduct new research led by Dr. Tung Sung Tseng in conjunction with the LSU LCMC Health Cancer Center to study benefits of combining lung cancer screenings and smoking cessation in African Americans.

LSU School of Nursing designated National League for Nursing Center of Excellence

LSU Health New Orleans’ School of Nursing was recently designated as a National League for Nursing (NLN) Center of Excellence™ (COE) in Nursing Education. This designation is for schools of nursing and health care organizations that have achieved a level of excellence in a specific area. The School of Nursing was recognized as a NLN COE for promoting the pedagogical expertise of faculty, and was only one of three schools awarded this particular COE designation.
