Crisis Leave
The LSUHSC-NO Crisis Leave Program allows eligible employees to receive paid leave during times of personal or family crisis—such as a serious illness, injury, or the birth or adoption of a child—when they have exhausted their own paid leave.
- Leave is granted at 75% of the employee’s base pay
- Up to 240 hours per 12-month period
- The leave may not extend beyond 12 weeks in total
- Donations are completely voluntary and confidential
- Employees can request crisis leave for:
- A catastrophic illness or injury affecting themselves or an eligible family member
- The birth or adoption of a child when lacking six weeks of paid leave
- Employees do not have to donate to the pool in order to receive crisis leave.
