Crisis Leave

Crisis Leave

The LSUHSC-NO Crisis Leave Program allows eligible employees to receive paid leave during times of personal or family crisis—such as a serious illness, injury, or the birth or adoption of a child—when they have exhausted their own paid leave.

  • Leave is granted at 75% of the employee’s base pay
  • Up to 240 hours per 12-month period
  • The leave may not extend beyond 12 weeks in total
  • Donations are completely voluntary and confidential
  • Employees can request crisis leave for:
    • A catastrophic illness or injury affecting themselves or an eligible family member
    • The birth or adoption of a child when lacking six weeks of paid leave
  • Employees do not have to donate to the pool in order to receive crisis leave.
