Employee Relations

The Employee Relations section of Human Resource Management is dedicated to enhancing a quality working environment for all LSUHSC-NO employees by encouraging positive communication amongst departments. Employee Relations is a resource for conflict resolution, facilitating difficult conversations, fostering productive working environments and ensuring compliance. Employee Relations process and help resolve employee complaints, coach and work with managers to prepare and deliver disciplinary actions for employees. In addition, we monitor and ensure compliance with State and Federal laws and Civil Service Rules and Regulations. Employee Relations administers the Affirmative Action Program and insures EEO compliance; processes and resolves employee and applicant complaints subject to civil rights legislation; implements disciplinary actions for employees; monitors and insures compliance with State and Federal laws and Civil Service Rules and Regulations; and administers Unemployment Compensation programs.

LSU Health New Orleans Ombuds Office

Associate Ombuds- Michael Brouchu, PhD

The Ombuds is a trained mediator and is available to resolve conflict through an informal process. The conflict resolution never goes into the employee's HR file or the student's record (since this is an informal process, no records are kept). Using the Ombuds' services is a favorable option for employees who want to improve their working environment without involving HR or Compliance. The ombuds informally mediates or negotiates dispute resolutions.

Associate Ombuds serves LSU Health New Orleans and LSU Health Shreveport.

Office of Compliance Programs

LSUHSC-NO's Office of Compliance Programs was established in March 2002 to provide consistency in compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations and University's Policies and Procedures across all the University's schools and administrative areas. Our mission is to contribute to the institution's overall excellence by increasing faculty, staff and student awareness of, and compliance with, applicable statutory, regulatory and policy requirements. This is necessary to minimize the institution's exposure to fraud, waste, and liability, through education, reporting and monitoring.
