Dr. Tina Patel Gunaldo, PhD, DPT, MHS (Director)

Tina Gunaldo is the inaugural Director for the Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice Office at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center at New Orleans (LSUHSCNO). With a decade of experience in this area, Dr. Gunaldo has over 30 publications and has presented at regional, national and international conferences. Her most recent accomplishments include leading the development of a state-wide interprofessional education (IPE) consortium, leading the development of a biannual meeting of interprofessional journal editors, co-leading the American Interprofessional Health Collaborative Innovation Task Force, co-chairing the American Interprofessional Health Collaborative Scholarship Committee, serving on the Interprofessional Education Collaborative Expert Panel (IPEC) leveraging the IPEC Competency Framework, and serving on the External Advisory Council for the University of Texas Health San Antonio interprofessional program. Dr. Gunaldo is the co-editor in chief for the Health, Interprofessional Practice and Education journal and is a co-editor for the textbook Interprofessional Education and Collaboration: An Evidence-Based Approach to Optimizing Health Care. Most importantly, Dr. Gunaldo is supported by a wonderful team of faculty, who have supported and/or integrated IPE into their academic practice.

Heather B. Allen, RDH, BSDH, MSHCM  (School of Dentistry): 2020-2026 

Heather Allen is the Director of Student Affairs and an Associate Professor of Clinical Comprehensive Dentistry at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center-New Orleans (LSUHSC-NO), School of Dentistry. She received her BS in Dental Hygiene from LSUHSC-NO and her MS in Health Care Management from the University of New Orleans. She has been a practicing registered dental hygienist for 21 years and an LSUSD faculty member since 2007. In addition to clinical responsibilities, Mrs. Allen has directed several dental hygiene courses including clinical nutrition, dental public health, oral health promotion and disease prevention, and professional development. Mrs. Allen is the President of the New Orleans Dental Hygienists' Association (NODHA) and the LSU Health-New Orleans, School of Dentistry, Liaison to the American Dental Education Association Commission on Change and Innovation in Dental Education (ADEA-CCI). Mrs. Allen has been engaged in several interprofessional activities and has published in this area.

Dr. Susanne Straif-Bourgeois, PhD, MPH, MS  (School of Public Health): 2020-2026 

Susanne Straif-Bourgeois is an Associate Professor of Epidemiology at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center New Orleans, School of Public Health. Dr. Straif-Bourgeois received an MSc in Biology from the University of Hohenheim, Germany, a PhD in Parasitology/Tropical Medicine from the University of Bonn, Germany as well as an MPH with a major in epidemiology from the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. Before she joined the LSU School of Public Health, she was the Assistant State Epidemiologist at the Louisiana Office of Public Health where she was in charge of outbreak investigations including H1N1, SARS and Public Health preparedness before, during and after natural disasters. Her research interests in infectious disease epidemiology varies from vaccine preventable diseases, healthcare associated infections as well as emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases.

Baudoin Colette

Colette D. Baudoin, MSN, RN, OCN, CNE (School of Nursing): 2021-2027

Colette Baudoin is a Clinical Instructor of Nursing at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center New Orleans, School of Nursing. She has been a nurse for over 30 years and at the School of Nursing since 2018. She is a Certified Nurse Education and Oncology Certified Nurse and has achieved several recognition awards including Great 100 Nurses in 2016 and Daisy Faculty Award in 2020 and 2021. She is a member of several professional organizations including the New Orleans Oncology Nurses and Sigma Theta Tau-Epsilon Nu chapter.

Dr. Scott Edwards, PhD (School of Graduate Studies): 2021-2027

Scott Edwards is an Associate Professor of Physiology and Neuroscience at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center New Orleans (LSUHSC-NO), with appointments in the School of Medicine and School of Graduate Studies. Dr. Edwards completed his PhD training in the Departments of Neuroscience and Psychiatry at the UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. Afterwards, Scott joined the Committee on the Neurobiology of Addictive Disorders at The Scripps Research Institute where he was awarded a K99/R00 Pathway to Independence award from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Dr. Edwards joined the Department of Physiology in 2013 and currently serves as a member of the translational LSU Health New Orleans NIH-funded Comprehensive Alcohol-HIV/AIDS Research Center as Director of Research Component 3 (Alcohol Use Disorder and Associated Neurological Symptoms of Cognitive Dysfunction and Pain) as well as Director of the Information Dissemination Core, which is focused on interprofessional education. Sr. Edwards has been engaged in several interprofessional activities and has published in this area.

Daniel Held, MHS, MT(ASCP)SBB (School of Allied Health Professions): 2022-2025

Daniel Held is Assistant Professor and Clinical Education Coordinator in the department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences at LSUHSC-NO. He received his undergraduate degrees from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and LSUHSC-NO, then earned his Master of Health Sciences from LSUHSC-NO. He has worked in multiple roles in the Immunohematology field for over 20 years, ranging from serological testing in the blood bank to an Immunhematology Reference Laboratory management to performing stem cell transplants. He is currently the Area VII representative for the Louisiana Society for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (LSCLS) and volunteer assessor with the Association for the Advancement of Blood and Biotherapies (AABB).

Dr. Michael Dicharry, MD (School of Medicine): 2022-2025

Michael Dicharry is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry for LSUHSC-NO and the Associate Clerkship Director for Psychiatry. He received his undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, then returned home to New Orleans where he earned his graduate degree from Tulane University and subsequently attended LSUHSC-NO for Medical School and his residency in Psychiatry. He currently works full time in the Behavioral Health Emergency Room at University Medical Center in New Orleans.
