General Information
Annual Enrollment begins October 1, 2023. As a benefits eligible LSU employee, you have a wide variety of benefit options available to you and your eligible dependents. During Annual Enrollment, you have the opportunity to enroll, make changes to, or cancel current benefit elections.
Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, LTD, Accident Protection, Critical Illness, and Flexible Spending Accounts cannot be terminated or changed outside of Annual Enrollment without a qualifying life event. Employees are encouraged to review their current benefit elections and make selections or changes consistent with their individual needs.
If no action is taken, all benefits will roll over for the next plan year, with the exception of both the Health and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) and the Health Savings Account (HSA) contributions. These benefits must be re-elected each year. All elections made during Annual Enrollment will be effective during the plan year of January 1, 2024 - December 31, 2024.

- January 1, 2024 - New plan year begins and changes made during Annual Enrollment take effect
Employees are encouraged to review all benefits and make selections/changes consistent with their individual needs.

Enrollment/change forms are available on this page or can be picked up at the Benefits Office. Forms should be submitted no later than November 15th. Employees can submit their forms to nohrmbenefits@lsuhsc.edu or in person at the Benefits Office located in the Resource Center Building, Room 626.
No updates/changes can be made after the annual enrollment period has ended unless it is due to a qualifying life event.
It is important that all employees check their health benefits and dependent information to ensure proper reporting on their 1095C forms to avoid a penalty.

Benefits Fairs & Virtual Presentations
The Office of Human Resource Management is excited to host two in-person Benefits Fairs.
The downtown campus fair will take place Thursday, October 26th from 10:00am to 2:00pm in the School of Allied Health & Nursing Building (1900 Gravier St.) on the 2nd floor.
The dental school fair will be Friday, October 27th from 8:00am to 12:00pm in the Administration building on the 1st floor.

2024 Plan Changes
If no action is taken, all benefits will roll over for the next plan year, with the exception of both the Health and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and Health Savings Account (HSA) contributions. These contributions must be re-elected each year. All elections made during Annual Enrollment will be effective during the plan year of January 1, 2024 - December 31, 2024.
Medical Plans
For all medical plans, employees can enroll, switch plans, make changes to their dependents, or cancel coverage during Annual Enrollment.
Plan Changes: There will be no plan design changes for the LSU First health plan.
Premiums: There will be a 6% premium increase for all levels of coverage (Employee Only, Employee + Child(ren), Employee + Spouse, and Family).
Prescriber Attestation - Required to be completed by employees with prescribing privileges who are enrolled or are enrolling in the LSU First plan.

Plan Changes: There will be no plan design changes for the Pelican HRA 1000 health plan.
Premiums: There will be a 6.15% premium increase for all levels of coverage (Employee Only, Employee + Child(ren), Employee + Spouse, and Family).

Plan Changes: There will be no plan design changes for the Pelican HSA 775 health plan.
Premiums: There will be a 6.15% premium increase for all levels of coverage (Employee Only, Employee + Child(ren), Employee + Spouse, and Family).
2024 HSA Annual Contribution Limits:
- Employee Only Coverage: $4,150*
- Family Coverage: $8,300*
- Employees age 55 or older can contribute an additional $1,000 per plan year.
*Reminder: Employer contributions count towards the IRS annual limit.

Effective January 1, 2024, the Vantage HMO and Medicare Advantage health plans will no longer be available. Enrollees' health coverage is NOT going away, but they will need to choose a new health plan option to begin after December 31, 2023.
Please note that active employees who fail to select a new health plan during the Annual Enrollment period will be defaulted into the Magnolia Local Plus plan.
Supplemental Plans
Plan Changes: There will be no plan design changes. The administrative fee has been waived for 2024.
2024 FSA Annual Limits:
- Health Care FSA: $3,050
- Dependent Care FSA: $5,000 ($2,500 if married and filing taxes separately)

More Plan Information: Vision Insurance
Plan Design Changes: Effective 01/01/2024, the new administrator of the Identity Theft Protection plan will be MetLife + Aura.
There will be two tiers of coverage.
- Protection Plan includes: Credit Monitoring & Alerts, Financial Account and Transaction Monitoring, Dark Web Monitoring, SSN & Identity Authentication Alerts, Password Manager and Safe Web Browsing.
- Protection Plus Plan includes: all features of the Protection Plan plus Experian Credit Lock, Payday/Specialty Loans Block, Credit Score Simulator, Social Media Account Monitoring & Takeover Alerts, Gamertag Monitoring, AI Powered Call & Text Screening.
The current plan through IdentityForce includes coverage for children at no additional cost. Effective 01/01/2024, "Employee Only" coverage will be just for the employee, no children. If you wish to have your child(ren) covered, you will need to submit a new enrollment form electing "Family Coverage."
Family Coverage will now include:
- Unlimited minors (child monitoring, child credit freeze wizard, parental controls)
- 10 additional adults with ZERO restrictions on who is part of your “family” (e.g., spouse, adult children, parents, siblings, friends)
- Each adult has access to his/her own full feature portal

United Healthcare
Plan Changes: There will be no plan design changes to the UHC life insurance plan.
Premium Increase: Employees will only experience a premium increase if they enter a new age band or increase coverage.
Changes Allowed:
- An employee currently enrolled in this plan may increase coverage by 1 increment of $10,000 without an Evidence of Insurability.*
- An employee not currently enrolled in this plan may elect $10,000 of coverage without an Evidence of Insurability.*
- Any employee may submit an Evidence of Insurability to apply for the maximum coverage level which is the lesser of $350,000 or 3 times their annual base salary.*
- A spouse will need to submit an Evidence of Insurability and be approved to elect any new or additional coverage up to the maximum amount of $175,000 or 50% of the employee's coverage.
- An employee enrolled in this plan may elect or increase coverage for their dependent child(ren) with no Evidence of Insurability.
*These changes are only guaranteed issue if the employee has not been previously denied coverage by UHC. If you have been previously declined for coverage by UHC, you must re-submit EOI and be approved to elect new or additional coverage in any amount.

Plan Changes: There will be no plan design changes to the Prudential life insurance plan.
Premiums: There will be a premium change for 2024. Additionally, your premium may increase if you are entering a new age band. Please review the 2024 premium rates here.
Changes Allowed: Employees may enroll or increase coverage with an Evidence of Insurability approval for self and spouse. No Evidence of Insurability is required for a dependent child.

Annual Enrollment forms can be submitted via email to nohrmbenefits@lsuhsc.edu. For secure transmission, employees should send enrollment forms from their LSUHSC email. Enrollment forms can also be mailed or dropped off to our office at 433 Bolivar Street, Room 626.
