We strive to keep this space informative and interesting. Thanks to everyone for reading and to all our authors/commenters for contributing.

Looking to liven up a presentation with a bit of art?
The National Gallery of Art has created NGA Images, repository of open access digital images. The database includes the 50 most frequently requested pieces from the museum, including works by Monet, Cassat, Renoir, Vermeer and many others.
If fine art isn’t what you’re looking for, the Library also has a list of Image databases which are comprised of or include image files. Many of these files are copyrighted so check what is considered to be fair use for each one.
Various local news agencies are reporting that the LSU baseball team was missing 16 players for their game last night due to stomach flu.
Coincidentally, the CDC is featuring Norovirus Surveillance on their webpage yesterday. We published a publication alert post in November about Norovirus in NBA players.
Much like the Carnival Advisory we wrote about last month, the Centers for Disease Control has posted a Spring Break Travel Advisory. I wonder how many Spring Breakers even know that the CDC exists?

Off Campus access to the Thieme Books is currently not working properly through the Library’s WAM system. Titles may still be access if logged into either Citrix or the campus VPN. Thieme journal titles are working correctly. We are investigating the issue. Thanks for your patience.

National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day is today, February 7th. The CDC reports “Among all racial/ethnic groups, African Americans bear the greatest burden of HIV in the United States. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that 1 in 16 black men and 1 in 32 black women will be diagnosed with HIV infection during their lifetimes. In 2009, blacks made up 14% of the US population but accounted for nearly half (44%) of all new HIV infections.”

The latest issue of the LibraryÔÇÖs Newsletter has been released. Archives of the newsletter are also available from 1998 to the present.
There will be a slight change to the Wireless Network in the Library as of February 3rd.?á The networked named “LSUHSC” will no longer be available. Please use “LSUHSC-Secure” instead.?á If you’ve used wireless recently in the Isché Library, it should have been defaulting to the Secure network over the last few months.?á The connection method is the same for both networks.
The software for the library blog was updated last night.?á You’ll notice some differences?áin the layout. The long list of dates is now a dropdown menu with the most recent information first (essential as we come up on our 5th anniversary) and also the broad categories which we use to organize the blog are also in a dropdown menu.
