Effective Sunday, July 17, 2011, the LSU School of Dentistry Library hours will be:

Sunday Closed

Monday through Thursday 8 am ÔÇô 8 pm

Friday 8 am ÔÇô 5 pm

Saturday Closed

Congratulations to one of our own!

Congratulations to Liz Strother, Associate Director for Dental Library Services, on her academic promotion to Professor/Librarian. Liz has worked long and hard to merit this most deserved promotion!

Liz has worked at LSUHSC for more than 30 years, she has more than 30 publications to her credit and has taught classes to dental students for many years. She has served the University in many ways and has been on more than 30 committees in service to professional organizations.

We, here in the library, are very proud of you, Liz!!

Dental Assistant Recognition Week

We know that in most of the United States, it’s just another Tuesday…but here in New Orleans, it’s Mardi Gras. The LSUHSC Libraries (and our entire campus) is closed today in celebration.

Carnival Weekend Hours

Both the Dental and Isché Libraries will have altered schedules for carnival weekend and will be closed on Mardi Gras day; additionally, Dental will have reduced hours for days after Mardi Gras for Spring Break.

Cultural Topics Lecture Series

On February 15, Tessie Prevost Williams, administrative assistant in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry, presented “Integrating New Orleans Schools: The Civil Rights Movement Through the Eyes of a Child,” the second in a series of lectures sponsored by the School of Dentistry Library. In 1960 Tessie was one of four black children selected to integrate two New Orleans elementary schools. Tessie described her experiences to an audience of faculty, staff, and students. More of her story is available on the School of Dentistry web site.

MLK, Jr Day Holiday

The LSUHSC Libraries (both Isché and Dental) will be closed on Monday, January 17th in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Holiday. Both Libraries will be open regular hours, 1:30-10 pm, on Sunday, January 16th.

Libraries are Closed

The Libraries (both Isché and Dental) are closed for the Winter Break. The Dental Library will re-open on Sunday, January 2nd at 1:30 pm. The Isché Library will re-open on Monday, January 3rd at 8 am.

Dental Library – Winter Break Hours

The Dental Library will have reduced hours for Winter Break before closing from December 23rd through January 1st. The hours will be as follows:
Tuesday-Wednesday December 21st-22nd 8 am – 5 pm
Thursday, December 23rd through January 1st Closed

The Library will resume normal hours on January 2nd.

Thanksgiving Day Hours

On Wednesday, November 24th, the Isché Library will close at 6 p.m. and the Dental Library will close at 5 p.m. Both Libraries will remain closed on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (November 25th-27th) in honor of Thanksgiving. Both will re-open on Sunday, November 28th from 1:30-10 p.m. Additionally, because of facilities work on the elevated walkways, the Library Commons will also be closed.

Go Saints!

Don’t worry! Although everyone in the Libraries are big Saints fans, both the Isché and Dental Libraries will be open until 10 p.m. tonight.

Both the Dental & Isché Libraries will have special hours this weekend for Labor Day. They are as follows:
