Pick Your Poison (NLM Exhibit) Moves to the Dental Library

The LSUHSC Libraries are happy to present a National Library of Medicine Traveling Exhibit:

Pick Your Poison: Intoxicating Pleasures & Medical Prescriptions has moved to the Dental Library from August 5th through the 23rd.

It was previously at the Isché Library from July 16th through August 2nd.

Pick Your Poison: Intoxicating Pleasures & Medical Prescriptions will be at the Isché Library from July 16th through August 2nd. And at the Dental Library from August 5th through the 23rd.

NLM exhibit “Physician Assistants” now at Isché Library!

The National Library of Medicine’s traveling exhibit “Physician Assistants: Collaboration and Care” is now at the LSUHSC-NO Isché Library. The display will be set up in the Library Commons on the third floor of the Resource Center until February 28.

Physician Assistants are nationally certified professionals who evaluate, diagnose, treat, and care for patients, with physician supervision. This exhibit covers the history of the PA profession, the profession’s emphasis on diversity, and the many ways in which PAs care for patients in the United States and across the globe.

Helpful links and educational resources provided by the National Library of Medicine in conjunction with the exhibit include lesson plans for upper elementary and high school classes, a higher education module with instructor resources, and a bibliography of additional readings.

Graphic Medicine: Ill-Conceived and Well-Drawn

What happens when health-related issues and cartoons merge? A National Library of Medicine exhibit called, “Graphic Medicine: Ill-Conceived and Well-Drawn!”.  The exhibit opens this week at the Dental Campus for the following dates of June 13th-29th. Learn about the latest medical oriented graphic novels and their contribution to societal learning. So, check out the National Library of Medicine exhibition; “Graphic Medicine: Ill-Conceived and Well-Drawn!”.

The Exhibition Program at the National Library of Medicine strives to promote greater understanding and awareness of how the past informs the present and can shape the future by creating lively and informative exhibitions and educational resources that enhance awareness of and appreciation for the collections of the National Library of Medicine. These exhibitions and educational resources engage diverse audiences and explore a variety of topics in the history of medicine.

The display includes six banners from the National Library Medicine as well as local articles, books, and archival material. To commemorate that evening, the National Library of Medicine online exhibition, Frankenstein: Penetrating the Secrets of Nature explores the applied discipline of biomedical engineering and its attempt to challenge the understanding of what it means to human.
