On Friday, May 15th, the original Visitors Parking Lot at the Dental School Administration and Clinic Buildings (across Florida Avenue by the railroad tracks) will be closed the entire day. This closure is necessary to allow for the placement of modular buildings for the School of Dentistry Inter-Professional Primary Care Clinic. Please see this illustration highlighting the area of the closure.
PayPaw will be down for most of Thursday, May 14th for scheduled maintenance. All printers and photocopiers will be inoperable during this window. This outage will be campus-wide.

A new selection of articles has been added to the Faculty Publications display in the Ische Library. The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival will be held at the New Orleans Fairgrounds this weekend (24 – 26 April) and next week (30 April – 03 May). Dean Henry Gremillion, DDS, has kindly extended an invitation to LSU Health New Orleans faculty, staff, and students to park at the Dental School, space permitting, with their LSUHSC IDs and parking gate cards. University Police will accommodate entering and exiting through the Tensas Street Gate (the back walk-thru gate) on the above-referenced dates until 7:30 P.M. each day. After 7:30 P.M., entering and exiting at the Tensas Street Gate will be via swiping your LSUHSC ID. Access will also be available through the Florida Avenue drive-in. All LSUHSC rules and regulations remain in effect regarding proper use and care of our campus properties and facilities. Please see Chief William Joseph for any other questions.
Welcome to our newest dental librarian, Wes!
Wesley Lucas started as the dental reference librarian on March 2, 2015. Wes is originally from Pascagoula, MS, and has lived in New Orleans for the past 3 years. He received his Master of Library and Information Sciences from Louisiana State University and his Bachelor of Arts, History, and Anthropology from the University of Mississippi in Oxford.
Wes comes to the Dental Library from Howard-Tilton Memorial Library, Tulane University, where he was a library technician in the microforms, newspapers, and government documents department. He also was the Special Collections Digital Services graduate assistant at the Hill Memorial Library at LSU in Baton Rouge. He has worked in a variety of academic and public libraries throughout his education and is happy to start his professional librarian career here at LSUHSC-NO.
We are thrilled to have Wes as part of the Dental Library team!

The National Library of Medicine’s “And there’s the humor of it” Shakespeare and the Four Humors traveling exhibit is now available for viewing at the Dental Library through April 22nd. Come learn about the four humors and how they were believed to dictate a person’s health and demeanor. The Libraries have also put together a selection of books and articles that look at the development and advances of medicine during Shakespeare’s time.

Easter Hours this weekend are as follow:

Dr. Paul Harch‘s latest clinical trial on the effects of hyperbaric oxygen treatments on brain injured patients is in the news. The study is seeking 50 patients to undergo 40 treatments.

The exhibit will be available at the Isché Library on the third floor of the Resource Center from March 15th through April 2nd on the Downtown Campus. It will then be at the Dental Library on the third floor of the Administration Building from April 6th through 22nd at the Dental Campus.
