A new selection of articles have been added to the Faculty Publications display in the Ische Library. These eight articles, as well as all of the articles in our Faculty Publications database, are authored by at least one member of our research community here at LSUHSC-New Orleans. Each month the Library is proud to present copies of eight of these publications in a rotating display of 16. With the currently changes, we’ve decided to post the publications digitally. Check out the display below:
Publications cited in the Faculty Publications database are harvested weekly from a variety of sources, such as PubMed, SCOPUS, and CINAHL, to name a few. In addition to articles they include books, book chapters, papers, editorials, letters to the editor, and meeting abstracts, all authored by at least one member of the LSUHSC-NO community. The database is maintained by Reference Librarian Kathy Kerdolff and is available to the general public here or via the Library’s webpage. Many publishers are adding alternatives to access online resources, and we just want to provide a few tips to help you figure all of this out:
To log into electronic resources off campus, you can use either your LSU Health New Orleans full e-mail address and password or a Library barcode and PIN
Due to current restrictions and recommendations, we are doing our best to add online access to our print books wherever possible. In some instances we have acquired the newer editions, as older editions were not available or just too out of date.
Unfortunately, many publishers do not sell their online books to institutions and libraries, preferring students and instructors coordinate access directly through them. Some of those ebooks are available for sale through ebook sellers such as RedShelf and VitalSource, both of which are offering special access during the COVID-19 outbreak.

McGraw-Hill additional access is through June 1st. Those resources are AccessBiomedical Science, Cardiology, Pediatrics, Physiotherapy, and F.A. Davis PT collection (part of AccessPhysiotherapy).
Ovid/LWW additional access is through May 19th. Those resources are 5-MinuteConsult, Acland’s Video Atlas of Human Anatomy, Bates Visual Guide to Physical Examination, LWW Health Library Clerkship/Clinical Rotations, LWW Health Library Exercise Science, LWW Health Library PA Rotations/Specialties.
If you are attempting to use any Library resources such as ebooks, journals, or databases, and have gone in through Citrix, you may wonder why you are are being asked to pay or you’re seeing something saying you need a subscription.
Even though you are in Citrix, you may still have to prove to publishers that you have permission to access the resources. Unfortunately, Citrix doesn’t always send that information along, so it’s important you use a link from the Library’s site or create one in order to guarantee you can get to what you should.
One key thing to look for is whether the link you’re following has “ezproxy.lsuhsc.edu” anywhere. If it does, then you’re good to go! If it does not, you may not be able to get to the resource you need. You can fix this, however, by running the link to the resource you need through our magical off campus link maker available here: https://libguides.lsuhsc.edu/openathens/offcampuslink. It looks like our LWW Health Library access has been restored. We are still seeing a few books listed in our collections that we shouldn’t be seeing, but the good news is access is mostly fully restored. LWW also opened up a few extra collections during the CovID-19 outbreak. We have extra access to the following collections through May 19th: Clerkship/Clinical Rotations, PA Rotations and Specialties, and Exercise Science. We will blog more about those and a few other things as soon as the details are wrapped up. Thanks to Ovid/LWW for offering us those extended trials during this challenging time.
