EBSCO eBook technical difficulties

EBSCO is experiencing technical difficulties with the eBook collection. If you find that you are having trouble, try using Google Chrome for your browser. The EPUB Full Text book reader seems to be more reliable, so if you have a choice between PDF Full Text and EPUB, choose EPUB.

The Library is pleased to announce that we have received special funding from the Board of Regents e-Textbook Project, Affordable Learning LOUISiana, to purchase 2 required textbooks for Spring 2017:

Analyzing and conceptualizing the theoretical foundations of nursing by Janice Morse (2017) for NURS 7307 taught by Dr. Gloria Giarratano

Vestibular disorders: a case-study approach to diagnosis and treatment, 3rd ed., by Joseph Furman (2010) for SPTHAUD 7323 taught by Rachel Wood.

These books are available with unlimited users and can be accessed anytime and from anywhere (on or off campus) through the EBSCO eBook Collection.

Dr. Joseph C. Rallo, Commissioner of Higher Education, directed the Board of Regents to find ways that the state could help students with the increasing costs of education and, in particular, textbooks.  The Affordable Learning LOUISiana program is coordinated by LOUIS: the Louisiana Library Network, a consortium of higher education libraries in the state. Through LOUIS, member libraries can participate in a variety of collaborative purchases that help reduce the costs of library resources such as databases, online journals, and ebooks.  LSUHSC-NO has been a member library for many years, and we are grateful for the LOUIS staff and all of their efforts to help improve higher education in the state of Louisiana.

The Library has a large collection of ebooks through a variety of sources, so be sure to check the INNOPAC catalog and our eBooks LibGuide for more information.  For help with remote access, please consult our Off-Campus Access Information.

Congratulations to Jennifer K. Lloyd!

scc-mla-logo

Congratulations to Jennifer K. Lloyd, our Assistant Director of Access Services! In October, Jennifer received the Distinguished Service Award (DSA) from the South Central Chapter of the Medical Library Association (SCC/MLA) during the chapter’s annual meeting in Galveston, TX. The DSA recognizes an individual’s long-term commitment to and promotion of the organization. Jennifer has been an active member of SCC since 1999. She has been consistently involved in the organization over the past 17 years, serving on and chairing almost every committee, presenting posters and papers, creating and maintaining the chapter’s Facebook page, mentoring new members, and volunteering to serve wherever needed without fail. She is probably best known in the group for her New Orleans’ hospitality. Her social and outgoing nature brings people together and gets the good times going. Everyone knows Jennifer, and everyone knows that she is always there to help and support the membership however she can. The DSA is the SCC’s highest honor, and Jennifer has rightfully earned it. Congratulations, Jennifer! We are so proud of you!

RefWorks

RefWorks is currently developing a new and improved version of itself referred to simply as the new RefWorks. At this time, the new RefWorks does not have all of the same functionality as the old RefWorks, which is now referred to as legacy RefWorks. As such, we will not be migrating our subscription to the new RefWorks until all of the kinks have been straightened out. If you are prompted with a choice between the legacy version (orange) and the new version (blue), please select the legacy version (orange).
