Library Classes Offered in July

The Libraries will be offering two classes in July! The first class is Writing a Data Management Plan: How and Why on Thursday, July 11th at 2PM. Sign up for the Zoom, or attend the class in person at room 405 in the Isché Library!

The second class is an EndNote Demonstration on Thursday, July 18th at noon. This class is a collaboration with our IT department as a part of their IT Office Hours series. This will only be offered via Zoom, which you can sign up for here: July 2024 IT Office Hours

Isché Library Stairs – Recarpeting

*Edit* Wednesday, July 10, 2024 11am – the stairs have reopened!

The Isché Library stairs are unavailable due to recarpeting. The elevator is the only way to access the upper floors of the Library at the moment. Hopefully this project will be complete soon.

Update: Downtown/Ische Library main phone now available

UPDATE: Monday, July 8, 2024: The phone is now working. Please feel free to call or chat if you need assistance.

Wednesday, July 3, 2024: Due to carpet replacement at the Circulation Desk, the main phone number for the Downtown/Ische Library (504-568-6100) is currently unavailable. We can be contacted via chat on the Library’s main homepage at https://www.lsuhsc.edu/library.

Libraries Closed for 4th of July

Both Libraries will be closed on Thursday, July 4th in observance of Independence Day. Additionally the Dental Library will close at 5pm on Wednesday, July 3rd and the Isché Library will close at 6pm on that day.

Library Commons Closed 7/2/2024

*Edit 7/2/2024 2:30pm – the Commons area is now reopened for use.

The main study area of the downtown Library Commons will be closed on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 for carpet tile replacement and may still be closed on Wednesday, July 3rd.

Library Commons Area with TVs

*Edit* Monday, July 1 – only one side of the TV area was completed on Friday, the other side will be worked on today.

The Library Commons area with the television monitors will be closed tomorrow, June 28, 2024 for carpet replacement. The furniture will be moved out of those spaces into the tiled area, so there will be some noise while this is happening.

Carpet Replacement – Isché Library

All the carpet is being replaced on the 3rd floor of the Isché Library. The work started yesterday, June 25, 2024. The work will take a couple of weeks to complete. But during that time library services may be interrupted. Poster printing has been offline since Monday evening. And there will be no popcorn tomorrow, June 27th. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Sections of the Library Commons will be unavailable while the carpet is being replaced in those areas. Stay tuned to hear when.

Library Class Offered in June!

The Libraries will offer a class titled “Making Things Easy with LibKey Nomad” on Wednesday, June 26th at 2PM. This class will explore all the features and uses of LibKey Nomad. Join us in person at room 405 in the Isché Library, or register for the Zoom!

Summer Hours – June & July

The Libraries will have Summer Hours for the months of June and July.

The Isché Library will close at 9pm Sunday-Thursday and at 6pm on Fridays from June-July. Opening times and Saturday hours will remain the same.

The Dental Library will close at 6pm Monday-Thursday and at 5pm on Fridays but only in June. It will be closed on weekends.

The Dental Library will resume regular hours Monday, July 1st. The Isché Library will resume on Thursday, August 1st.

New ClinicalKey EBooks for May

ClinicalKey has released their latest batch of new eBooks in our subscription package. They include updated editions of Netter anatomy books, a new title about diabetes mellitus, and a couple of new editions from their “secrets” series.

Library Classes Offered in May

The Libraries will have two classes in May, first class being Introduction to RefWorks on Wednesday, May 22 at 2PM. Join us in person at room 405 in the Isché Library, or register for the Zoom!

The second class is How to Peer Review a Journal Article. This class will only be offered via Zoom, which you can sign-up for here.

Database Searching Skills Class on Thursday, April 18th!

Join us in the Isché Library in room 405 (or via Zoom) at 2PM on Thursday, April 18th, to learn about search skills in databases such as PubMed, CINAHL, and Web of Science!

Easter Weekend Hours

The Libraries will be closed Friday, March 29, 2024 through Sunday, March 31, 2024 in observance of Easter weekend. Additionally the Dental Library will close at 5pm on Thursday, March 28th and the Isché Library will close at 6pm on that day. The Libraries will be open regular hours on Monday, April 1st.

Two New LibGuides

March 12, 2024: The Libraries are excited to announce two new LibGuides! The two new LibGuides are Artificial Intelligence in the Health Sciences, and the other new LibGuide being Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).
