LSU Health Digital Scholar has a new look! Our repository has grown significantly since it was established in 2023, and a redesign of the home page was undertaken to better reflect and navigate our many collections.
Digital Scholar is LSUHSC-NO’s Institutional Repository, a platform where scholarly output and events created and hosted by our academic community are shared. Here you will find Faculty Publications, Research Events, Dissertations & Theses, two journals: the Journal of the Louisiana Public Health Association and the Louisiana Journal of Counseling, Data sets, a collection of Campus Art & Images, and Historical Collections such as academic bulletins, graduation programs and student newspapers dating back to the first days of the originally named “Louisiana State University Medical Center”.
Digital Scholar is growing in content daily and we actively seek out items to include on this open-access platform! Possible submissions include:
Faculty bibliographies
LSUHSC-affiliated authors’ articles or research suitable for open-access publication
Post-embargo Dissertations & Theses
Research Days, Events, or Symposia – past and present
School- or Department-specific professional development seminars
Data sets suitable for open-access publication or storage
Benefits to having your work or event archived in LSU Health Digital Scholar include: reader analytics and tracking, a consistent URL for inclusion in CVs and communications, access to a broader network of research, proceedings, and data sets, and contributing to the impressive body of LSUHSC scholarly output! If you are interested in submitting a scholarly work or event to the repository or have any questions, please reach out to DigitalScholar@lsuhsc.edu.
You can navigate to LSU Health Digital Scholar from the Libraries homepage, or visit it directly via digitalscholar.lsuhsc.edu. June 24, 2025: The LibKey integration that brought Cabells alerts about problematic and potentially predatory journals will end on June 28, 2025.

The Libraries are excited to announce a new digital collection in LSU Health Digital Scholar: The Tiger Student Newspaper.
Published bimonthly from September 1932 to May 1940 by the Students of Louisiana State University Medical Center, the Tiger offers a rare and unique glimpse into the history of the school, campus life, local and national events from that era, as well as medical case studies and a brief history of Charity Hospital.
This is an ongoing digitization project undertaken with technical assistance provided by Tulane University Rudolf Matas Library of the Health Sciences. Each digital document is viewable and searchable as a PDF. Currently, The Tiger Vol. 1, No.’s 1-13 are available; new issues will be uploaded as they are completed.

UPDATE: May 23, 2025: The problem with the Discovery/EDS search box showing an old interface has been fixed, and you should now see the updated version of the Discovery service.
May 22, 2025: If you use the Discovery/EDS search box that’s on a few of our webpages, you may have noticed that the search results appear a bit more cluttered than usual. We experienced some issues with our EBSCOhost databases, and as a result of a fix for that problem, our Discovery/EDS was reverted to an old version of the interface we have not used since October 2022.
May 20, 2025: Due to scheduled maintenance, Wolters Kluwer has advised us that Bates Visual Guide will not be available this evening. Per the notice we received this morning, the module will be undergoing scheduled maintenance from Tuesday, May 20 at 8:45 pm until 3:00 am on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. During this period, some functions may be temporarily unavailable, including password reset, new user registration, and administrative functions. If you were planning on using Bates Visual Guide during that time frame and think you might need to reset your password or you need to register, you might consider doing so before the scheduled maintenance begins.
Research Poster Printing is now available at the Dental Library, thanks to the generosity of the Department of Genetics who donated their poster printer to the Libraries.
The process and policies are the same as for Research Poster Printing at the Isché Library. For information about submitting a poster printing request, please visit our Poster Printing page here: https://www.lsuhsc.edu/library/services/posterprinting.aspx
Please note that the printer at the Dental Library is slightly smaller than the one at the Isché Library, with a maximum width of 42”.
In response to the NIH accelerating the implementation date of its Public Access Policy to July 1, 2025, the Libraries have updated the Data Management Resource Guide. Authors will now be required to publicly share their manuscripts and supporting data immediately upon publication of their work without an embargo.
Please review this resource and reach out to the Data Services Librarians, Sharon Duffy (sduffy@lsuhsc.edu) and Matthew Folse (mfols3@lsuhsc.edu), with questions related to this new policy.

May 6, 2025: We are currently experiencing troubles when attempting to access some journals using Library links. There is an issue with a handful of publishers and the IP addresses they use to recognize our users and allow access to our journal subscriptions. As a result, you may not be able to get articles or content from journals and may be asked to pay.
We are currently working through the problem by contacting publishers, but if you run into an instance where you cannot get an article, please contact us.
