LSU Health New OrleansLibrary Closure – Hurricane Laura

Campus Closure 8/24/2020 – Hurricane Marco

The LSUHSC Libraries and the LSUHSC campuses will be closed on Monday, August 24th in advance of Hurricane Marco. We hope to reopen both locations at 8am on Tuesday, weather permitting.
LibKey Nomad available for Firefox
We have some great news for all Firefox users: the LibKey Nomad extension that makes using PubMed simple and getting articles a breeze is now available for Firefox!
LibKey Nomad brings the Library’s online subscriptions to you by enhancing PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science, along with many other sources. It’s easy to link to the full text of journal articles with this extension by your side.
Firefox now joins Chrome, Edge, Vivaldi, and Brave in the family of LibKey Nomad-compatible browsers. We have a LibGuide that walks you through installing and configuring the extension along with showing off some of its features.

New AAP Ebooks
The Library has renewed the American Academy of Pediatrics ebooks database and added 18 new ebooks to our collection.

The database from American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) contains over 200 ebooks and includes a wide range of pediatric topics, from dermatology to parenting. There are coding manuals and ebooks on practice management, as well as patient guidelines for new parents. There are even a few titles in Spanish.
You can browse the database or search by topic or title. The titles can also be accessed through the Library catalog. And we also have access to the AAP database of neonatal resuscitation ebooks.
New EBooks Added
The Library has added a collection of new ebooks. These culturally and socially relevant titles are provided through the LOUIS Library Network and the ProjectMuse Evidence Based Selection program.

ClinicalKey Renewed!
The Library is happy to announce the renewal of ClinicalKey with generous funding from the School of Medicine! We are pleased to be able to continue to offer this extensive package of current and vital health sciences resources for another year. This database provides electronic access to over 1,000 books, nearly 700 journals, and a clinical search engine covering more than 30 specialties.

August Faculty Publications
A new selection of articles have been added to the Faculty Publications display in the Ische Library. These eight articles, as well as all of the articles in our Faculty Publications database, are authored by at least one member of our research community here at LSUHSC-New Orleans. Each month the Library is proud to present copies of eight of these publications in a rotating display of 16. With the currently changes, we’ve decided to post the publications digitally. Check out the display below:
Publications cited in the Faculty Publications database are harvested weekly from a variety of sources, such as PubMed, SCOPUS, and CINAHL, to name a few. In addition to articles they include books, book chapters, papers, editorials, letters to the editor, and meeting abstracts, all authored by at least one member of the LSUHSC-NO community. The database is maintained by Reference Librarian Kathy Kerdolff and is available to the general public here or via the Library’s webpage. The Chronicle of Higher Education Data Breach
The Chronicle of Higher Education has reported a data security incident. Some account holder names, email addresses, usernames, and passwords for some online accounts to chronicle.com, philanthropy.com, and/or chroniclevitae.com were posted online by unauthorized parties. Account holders should have received notification from the Chronicle, and the Chronicle reset all passwords. If account holders use the same usernames and passwords for any other online account, The Chronicle recommends that they change the passwords to those accounts as well. LibKey.io makes finding articles easy!
We are happy to announce the availability of a new product from Third Iron, makers of BrowZine, LibKey Link, and LibKey Nomad, that makes getting articles using just a PMID and DOI not only possible but also incredibly easy!
This new product is called LibKey.io and it combines the easy linking you’ve enjoyed from the other Third Iron products with our Library’s journal holdings and link resolver to make retrieving articles as simple and easy as it has ever been.
You can access LibKey.io from the Library’s homepage under the Quick Links section:
Once you click the LibKey.io link, you will see a page where you can enter a PMID or a DOI for the article you need:
Once you enter a PMID or a DOI, you will be presented with a page that typically has many options for getting that article:
In some cases or if there are no sources for the full text of that article, you will be brought to our WebBridge LR link resolver where you may find other sites where the article is available or the option to request it through Interlibrary Loan.

New link resolver/LibKey page
Regular users of the Library’s link resolver in PubMed may have noticed a new screen when checking the availability of full-text for an article. Recent updates to the BrowZine/LibKey suite of products has brought not only this new screen but a slew of changes we hope will make getting to articles you need much easier.
When you click our link resolver icon in PubMed, you will often see a page that looks like this featuring a new variety of options to get that article, its supplemental content, or even to see the article within its issue in BrowZine:
At first it may seem like quite a lot to take in, but you have the option to automatically link to the PDF when possible. When you check that box, your preference is remembered for the entirety of your session.
Although you may have noticed it when using PubMed, this screen can be seen in all of the BrowZine/LibKey products. We have more exciting news to announce in the coming days, so stay tuned for even more streamlined ways to get the articles you need!

Dental Library Expands Hours
Beginning Monday, July 6th the Dental Library will be open 5 days a week from 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. The Dental Library will be closed on weekends.
The Isché Library continues to be open from 8am to 8pm Monday through Thursday, from 8am to 6pm on Fridays, from 9:30am to 6pm on Saturdays and from 11:30am to 8pm on Sundays.

The Isché Library will close at 6pm on Thursday, July 2nd and will be closed Friday, July 3rd through Sunday, July 5th.
The Dental Library continues to be open Monday-Thursday from 8am to 2pm.
